75 Percent of Sites At Risk

Wednesday, September 3, 2008

If you think you've read this story before, you have. And if you think it's annoying, you're missing the point. According to a recent report on Web security from Cenzic’s Intelligent Analysis Lab, an overwhelming majority of sites still have unpatched vulnerabilities that can expose visitors to malicious code and lead to exposure of sensitive information. "It’s part of a trend that has been going on since 2006," said Tom Stracener, Cenzic's senior security analyst. Meanwhile, WhiteHat Security Inc. reported similar findings in its fifth Web site Security Statistics Report, noting that cross-site request forgery vulnerabilities are present in about 75 percent of sites. See Government Computer News for the unpleasant details.
