Outsourced security services are going to jump significantly in the next five years as companies turn to outsourced applications, according to a report released last week by Gartner Inc. The research firm said outsourced services such as anti-malware and anti-spam for email and IM (instant messaging) already account for 20 percent of revenue in the messaging-security market, and are expected to jump to 60 percent by 2013. As mobile employees bypass the corporate network to access business data, Gartner said, companies will need to put security controls between those users and outsourced services.
