DNS Spoof Exploit in Austin, Texas

You may have read about a major security problem in the Internet's DNS that allows a crook to send users to a spoofed site that could attack their computers and steal their personal information. Until recently, details have been scarce. But an excellent article by Robert Lemos in SecurityFocus outlines exactly how — in Austin, Texas last week — BreakingPoint Systems Inc.'s DNS servers were induced to return a fake entry for Google and route requests for the search engine's pages to a fake site set up by a scammer. This is essential reading.
