Fraud Modeling Whacks Online Crooks Fast
Wouldn't it be great if you could spot fraudulent system users and swat them like whack-a-moles before they did any harm? The bad news is that detecting fraud in user accounts is really, really hard. The good news is that Guardian Analytics, a start-up, is offering a new technology called "fraud modeling" that allows companies to create sophisticated patterns of "normal" online interaction, which makes it easier to identify anomalous, and potentially fraudulent, behavior at banks and other financial institutions. Over time, this model can be applied to many other environments, such as e-commerce, SaaS (software as a service), SFA (Sales Force Automation) and even social-networking services.
