Get Yer Norton 2009 Betas Here

Wednesday, July 23, 2008

As Dirty Harry once asked, "Are you feeling lucky, punk?" You should, now that Symantec Corp. has opened two of its Norton 2009 products to public beta. Both Norton Internet Security 2009 and Norton Antivirus 2009 feature new code that makes the scans run faster and consume fewer system resources, said Tom Powledge, vice president of Symantec's consumer product division. For instance, whereas Norton Internet Security 2006 consumed roughly 300MB of hard-disk space, the 2009 version only needs 100MB. And the new anti-virus software will now ignore all unchanged and previously scanned files (like photos and music) to make AV scans faster. Also, in order to keep up with ever-changing malware, the 2009 products will be updated every 15 minutes. Read all about it at CNet News,or download betas here. If you're feeling lucky.
