Neosploit Hack-by-Numbers Kit Takes a Dirt Nap

Wednesday, August 6, 2008

According to an article in The Register, the distributor of Neosploit, one of the most popular infection kits available on the Internet, is retiring the product, citing excessive support costs. Neosploit was the hacking equivalent of a paint-by-numbers kit. Bad guys who didn't have the skills to fashion their own exploits could buy the kit and amass a sizable botnet in no time at all. The package received regular improvements and boasted an online forum where customers could seek help when they got stuck. Not anymore. Of course, this doesn't prevent similar packages like MPack, Icepack and others from picking up Neosploit's crook database. Gentlemen, start your firewalls.
