One-Half Million IIS Servers Hit in Cyberattack

Wednesday, May 7, 2008

Don't panic (yet), but a massive cyberattack seems to be targeting vulnerable IIS (Internet Information Services) -based Web pages by redirecting site visitors to pages that host malicious code. And the attacks are growing rapidly. Panda Security puts the number of infected IIS servers at 282,000, while F-Secure estimates that the attack has affected more than 500,000 servers. A secretly embedded IFrame tag redirects a user to another page, where identity-stealing malware is downloaded to his or her computer. You'll find a full report at Enterprise IT Planet.
