Password Recovery Experts May Be Hackers in Disguise

The distance between cops and crooks is always smaller than it looks. According to a new article in Dark Reading, when you hire a service to help find your lost Webmail passwords, you may be doing business with hackers who make their living cracking the passwords of others. This warning comes from Gunter Ollmann, chief security strategist at IBM Corp.'s Internet Security Systems unit. What he wrote might make you think twice about using Webmail services at all — which he considers notably insecure. Read his blog here.
