Shoot Yourself in the Foot — On Purpose

Wednesday, July 30, 2008

Successful phishing exploits do not require that the victim be stupid — though it doesn't hurt. Many phishing emails are extremely clever, such as a recent one offering breathtaking photos of a purported earthquake in China. Phishme, a new tool from Intrepidus Group Inc., is designed to help companies assess their vulnerability to phishing attacks by generating self-inflicted targeted attacks, as well as reminding users how easy it is to fall for them. Employees responding to the phishmail receive instant feedback, educational messages and training material — including a comic strip. See Dark Reading for more information, or go directly to PhishMe.
