Spoof Is No Joke

Apple users and iPhone fans often brag that Apple Inc.'s OS is relatively safe from hackers, but a recent report from security researcher Aviv Raff suggests that the crooks are catching up. According to an article in Information Week, Apple's iPhone mail and Safari apps running under iPhone 1.1.4 and 2.0 firmware are vulnerable to attack via URL spoofing."By creating a specially crafted URL, an attacker can convince the user that the spoofed URL showed in the mail application is from a trusted domain," Raff explained. He recommended that users should not click links, but type in URLs manually until the problem is resolved. Read more here.
